A member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian cellist Timothy Nankervis has received recognition for his work as a soloist and chamber musician, particularly as a member of the acclaimed Seraphim Trio. Winners of the Piano Trio Prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, the Seraphim Trio have toured nationally for Musica Viva, and performed at numerous festivals including the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth Festivals, as well as MOFO in Launceston, appearing in venues like City Recital Hall (Sydney), Melbourne Recital Centre and Ukaria (Adelaide). Tim also performs internationally with the Seraphim Trio; touring the UK, Italy and Germany in 2025.

A member of the Sonus Piano Quartet, Tim has also performed as a guest artist with various other chamber ensembles, including the Australia Ensemble, and with other celebrated artists including Paul Kelly, Lorina Gore, Andrew Haveron, Diana Doherty, David Elton and Jacqui Cronin.
As a soloist, Tim has performed widely throughout Australia, broadcasting regularly for the ABC and MBS-FM radio stations.He has performed the Beethoven Triple and Brahms Double Concertos with orchestras in Sydney and Queensland, and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Rococo’ Variations as soloist with Orchestra Victoria. Tim performs regularly with the Australian World Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra; also casually with the Melbourne, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.

As an educator, Tim has taught cello and chamber music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and tutors regularly for the Sydney and Australian Youth Orchestras. After receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Lois Simpson, and a Master of Music degree with Nelson Cooke from Melbourne University, Tim continued his studies at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, and in London with William Pleeth and Raphael Wallfisch.
